OUR STORY

Over the years, I've been witness to the heart-wrenching toll that Alzheimer's and Dementia inflict, not just on those who suffer from these cruel diseases but also on their loved ones. My own family has been deeply impacted by the agonizing battle against Alzheimer's and Dementia, prompting an unwavering determination within me to contribute to the crucial cause of research and fundraising.

In my quest to make a meaningful impact, I engaged in various fundraising activities to generate funds and awareness. However, it became evident that more needed to be done. Therefore, in October 2022, I embarked on a heartfelt journey by establishing a home-based business crafting candles and diffusers, each meticulously handmade. Every moment dedicated to researching and creating these products, was infused with a passion for making them as eco-friendly as possible, utilizing Natural Vegan Wax, Vegan Friendly Premium Fragrance Oils, and avoiding parabens and SLS.

With a commitment to sustainability, I carefully sourced and selected the finest containers and packaging, consistently choosing to support local businesses. The name "Memory Scents" embodies the essence of Alzheimer's/Dementia, symbolizing the connection between scent and memory, a theme perfectly aligned with my brand.

This venture operates as a non-profit, with every penny of each sale directly benefiting The Alzheimer's Society UK, leaving no room for deductions in labour or operating costs.

My core range of scents draws inspiration from cherished memories of my childhood – English Rose reminiscent of my Nan, Cuban Oak evoking my Granddad's aftershave, and others such as Bluebell and Sweetpea. Over the past year, I've added to my range of scents and expanded my offerings to include luxury hand and body wash, hand and body lotion, and room colognes.

To widen the reach and raise awareness, we now also actively participate in local markets and craft fairs.

However, the journey did not stop there. Once Memory Scents became fully operational, my Husband, Simon, and I wanted to do more. We felt compelled to extend our support to a local family facing extraordinary challenges. Oakley, a young boy with a rare complex brain condition, requires round-the-clock care and therapy beyond the scope of NHS support schemes. In response, we developed a bespoke product range, with 100% of all sales directly contributing to Oakley's therapy costs – covering materials and labour, provided and paid for by Simon and myself.

We promote Oakley's product range through his dedicated website, in person at local shows, fairs and through social media advertising. You can follow Oakley’s story by visiting his website, showcasing his development and the impact of sales on his journey especially in his early years.

Our mission is clear – to continually enhance our products and support more charities with personalised bespoke products.
